Most of my students have increased their scores from a failing grade (under 60) to around 85-90.

從小在國外長大及讀書，因此有機會了解國外英文教育，也因此可以與台灣的教育系統做比較，也因此能比較了解學生面臨的挑戰。 因以前小時候讀書多，對國外社會及文藝上有深入的了解，清楚國外教育系統的重視的項目。
I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to live and study mostly overseas; my experiences have allowed me to compare different international education systems with that of Taiwan’s, and therefore am uniquely aware of the challenges facing students “making the leap”.

The fact that I have been a bookworm since youth, am well-versed on a variety of social and international topics, and have first-hand experience, has also allowed me to have an accurate understanding of what actual international education institutions value, and I am currently in the process of writing my own books.

我的經驗顯示，一旦學生達到自然熟練的程度，成績自然提高；不熟練的學生則需不斷努力提高成績。 因此，我通常會優先提升實際的英語能力。 英語能力需要累積。也就是說，雖然學生可能看起來不能馬上做得很好，但隨著時間的推移，他們會不斷進步，而且他們所獲得的技能會終生受用。

我的教學重點如下：
- 找出學生的弱點
每個學生的學習方式不同，因此可能會錯過某些概念或基礎知識。 因此，需打好英語基礎是第一步。

- 發展核心理解和技能
學生必須能夠運用他們所學到的知識，並將其轉化為適用的技能：我會訓練學生理解英文文章、分析其結構、找出重點以及有效地表達。

- 了解重於背誦
我的教學方法不鼓勵死記硬背，因為往往很快就會忘記。重點在於如何連結及運用所學。 學生不只是記憶，而是將所學到應用在日常生活中。

- 流暢和準確的表達
學生不僅學習知識，還需要練習。 目標是能流暢和準確的表達，透過練習能冷靜、正確和自信地表達自己。

- 熟練及自學策略
在提供指導的同時，我無法什麼都教。 每週上課時間根本不夠，需能夠主動學習。 因此，希望能學習在餘暇時間練習教過的技巧和方法，並在下一堂課前完成每週的作業。

Can teach remotely or in person.

My experience shows that once a student attains natural proficiency, his/her scores will naturally increase, while students who are not proficient will constantly struggle to improve their scores. Therefore, I usually prioritize improving actual English ability. English proficiency requires accumulation, which means while students may not seem to do well immediately, they will improve over time, and the skills they gain will be applicable for the rest of their life.

My teaching focuses on the following:
- Identify student weaknesses
Every student learns differently, and so may have missed certain concepts or early basics. Building up a strong English foundation is therefore the first step.

- Developing core comprehension and mechanical skills
Students must be able to utilize the knowledge they have learned and turn them into applicable skills: students will be trained to understand English text, break down structure, identify main points, and express oneself effectively.

- Acquisition over Memorization
My teaching method discourages rote memorization, as most students tend to quickly forget what they learn: the key is to make the knowledge personal, make connections, and utilize. I push my students to not just recall, but to incorporate what they’ve learned into daily usage.

- Fluency and Accuracy of Expression
Students need not just knowledge, but practice. Emphasis is placed on articulation, fluency, and accuracy, with drills on how to express oneself calmly, correctly, and confidently.

- Mastery and Self-Learning Strategies
While guidance is provided, I tend to avoid handholding. I have mentioned to all my students that the time spent in class simply will never be enough: one must be able to study and learn on their own initiative as well. Students therefore learn techniques and methods by which to practice in their spare time, and will be given weekly assignments that must be completed before the following class.

Example #1: Increased a student's IELTS score from 0 to around 5.5-6.0 in around 15 months.
Example #2: Helped inspire a student’s personal interest in English literature and reading.
Example #3: Have increased students’ general grades from a failing grade to high 80s or low 90s.
Example #4: Was commented on by a student that I had helped her understand more in a single 30 minute lecture than her teacher had been able to in an entire month; I also helped her develop a legitimate interest in the subject material.

As I have told multiple students
- Taiwan is a difficult environment to learn English in; therefore, one must be proactive.
- While I can help guide one's English growth, one needs to be responsible for progress during the rest of the week.
- Read and consume as much reading as one can.
- Consume foreign media, not Taiwanese local media.
- If one wants to do well on the TOEFL/IELTS exam, knowledge of contemporary social topics is important, so read, read, read.

我一直向學生強調：
- 在台灣學習英文不容易；因此，必須主動學習。
- 我可以幫助您學習英文種種技巧，但請在以下方面配合：
- 盡可能地多閱讀。
- 閱讀外國媒體的報導，而不是台灣本地媒體。
- 如果想在 TOEFL/IELTS 考試中取得好成績，對當代社會議題的瞭解是很重要的，因此除了閱讀，還是閱讀。
